About the Role

The Industrial Pipe Fitter will assemble, layout, install, and maintain pipe systems for steam, fluid, or gas applications. Work may involve pipes, flanges, supports, valves, gauges, hangers, and angles in various locations including buildings, tanks, boilers, underground excavations, and heights up to 300 ft. Key duties include reading blueprints to determine material needs, identifying tools and safety precautions, fabricating and installing pipe to specifications, installing valves and supports, and performing tests to verify system quality. The role also involves rigging loads with slings, chains, and other equipment, and may occasionally oversee helpers or laborers. • Read blueprints and specifications to determine material needs. • Identify required tools and safety precautions for each task. • Prepare, fabricate, install, and fit pipe systems to specifications. • Install valves, hangers, supports, and flanges according to plans. • Perform testing to ensure pipe and system quality. • Hoist loads using slings, chains, shackles, hooks, and rigging equipment. • Occasionally oversee helpers or laborers, though no direct reports.

What You Bring

Candidates must have at least four years of experience as an Industrial Pipe Fitter or Helper and be able to read and interpret prints and technical manuals. Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving abilities are required, along with experience on industrial construction projects. Required qualifications emphasize a demonstrated history in industrial construction or maintenance, proficiency with pipe‑fitting processes for combined‑cycle power plants, and the ability to work both independently and as a team player. Preferred qualifications include Zachry ROF status, former Zachry employment, NCCER certification, and formal technical education. The position demands physical stamina for standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting up to 50 lb, as well as the ability to work at heights up to 300 ft with proper fall protection. Workers must tolerate various weather conditions, adhere to PPE requirements, and follow Zachry’s safety and drug‑free policies. • Minimum 4 years industrial pipe fitting or helper experience. • Ability to read and interpret prints, technical manuals, and construction drawings. • Knowledge of pipe‑fitting processes for combined‑cycle power plants. • Strong problem‑solving, manual dexterity, and communication skills. • Preferred: Zachry ROF status, former Zachry employee, NCCER certification, formal technical education. • Required tools include metal tool box, tape measures, various wrenches, levels, pipefitter's blue book, and rigging equipment. • Physical demands include standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lb, working at heights up to 300 ft, and exposure to weather; PPE required at all times.
