About the Role

The Associate Highway Engineering Design Task Lead will be based in Eastern Pennsylvania, working from AECOM offices in Mechanicsburg, Philadelphia, or Conshohocken in a hybrid model. This role provides technical leadership and design oversight for medium to large transportation projects across the Greater Pennsylvania Area, coordinating with design leads, engineering managers, and project managers to advance scope and deliverables. In addition to guiding the technical approach, the task lead delegates design tasks, mentors highway designers, and ensures interdisciplinary coordination with other project disciplines. The position also supports project staffing decisions, proposal development, and the preparation of technical presentations to meet client expectations on schedule, scope, and budget. • Oversee development of design criteria, alignments, superelevation, barrier/guiderail design, and spot elevations • Oversee rigid and flexible pavement design • Oversee signing and pavement marking plans • Oversee construction phasing plans and develop maintenance‑of‑traffic strategies • Identify utility conflicts and coordinate resolutions • Develop construction specifications, quantities, and cost estimates • Oversee creation of 3D models in OpenRoads • Oversee technical calculations and reports per standards • Ensure adherence to AECOM quality procedures • Conduct interdisciplinary technical reviews • Contribute to staffing decisions to meet schedule, scope, and budget • Assist in proposal development and marketing efforts • Prepare presentations of technical findings and recommendations • Support project managers and technical department managers

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with at least four years of highway transportation experience, possess an EIT certification, and have a valid US driver’s license. Preferred qualifications include six or more years of related experience, a Pennsylvania PE license, expertise with OpenRoads design software, and prior work on PennDOT or PA Turnpike projects, combined with a willingness to mentor staff. • Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering with 4+ years highway experience (or equivalent) • EIT certification and valid US driver’s license • Proficiency in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD • Preferred: 6+ years highway experience, PA PE license, OpenRoads expertise, PennDOT/PA Turnpike project experience, mentorship ability
