About the Role

In this senior position, the engineer will design and deliver sophisticated electrical solutions, act as the senior technical authority on major projects, oversee multiple concurrent projects, and work closely with multidisciplinary teams to integrate lighting, power distribution, fire and life safety, and low‑voltage systems. The role also includes mentoring junior and mid‑level engineers to foster technical excellence and innovation. • Lead design and delivery of complex electrical engineering solutions across health, defence, transport, data centres and sports facilities. • Serve as senior technical authority, providing expert review, guidance and oversight of electrical design and system integration. • Manage multiple electrical projects concurrently, ensuring technical rigor, program delivery and client satisfaction. • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, fire and life safety, and low‑voltage. • Mentor and develop junior and mid‑level engineers, fostering technical excellence and innovative thinking.

What You Bring

The national Building Engineering team is seeking a technically strong Principal Electrical Engineer to lead a variety of building services projects across health, defence, transport, data centres, sports facilities and other complex environments, with the role available in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane. Ideal candidates have at least 12 years of experience in electrical engineering within a building services consultancy, senior contracting role or government department, and possess deep knowledge of Australian Standards and building codes. Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) and RPEV/RPEQ registration are preferred, as are strong communication skills, a passion for mentoring, and Australian citizenship with defence clearance. • Minimum 12 years of electrical engineering experience in building services consultancy, senior contracting or government roles. • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) and RPEV/RPEQ registration preferred. • Deep knowledge of Australian Standards, building codes and electrical systems. • Excellent communication, interpersonal and mentoring abilities. • Australian citizenship and defence clearance preferred.
