• Learn SEA’s waste reduction programs and environmental education/outreach campaigns. • Gather and analyze waste/recycling data, assess equipment, and document conditions through staff communications and inspections. • Research waste prevention topics under guidance of Port staff. • Provide education, outreach, and training on waste reduction and recycling for airport tenants. • Assist in updating and implementing environmental education/outreach campaigns. • Support various projects and tasks within waste reduction and other environmental programs as workload allows. • Participate in meetings and discussions with Port Environmental and other staff.

What You Bring
Applicants should be currently enrolled in, or have recently graduated from, an undergraduate program related to sustainability, natural resources, environmental sciences, or communications. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to equity, possess moderate proficiency with Microsoft Office and other business tools, and exhibit strong organizational and time‑management abilities. Experience or coursework in waste reduction, sustainable materials management, or outreach communication is preferred.

Benefits
This full‑time summer internship, with the possibility of part‑time extension into the school year, supports the Seattle‑Port Authority’s Environment & Sustainability Department, focusing on waste reduction and education/outreach programs. Interns will gather and analyze waste and recycling data, assess equipment and facilities, and provide education and training for airport tenants while supporting research as needed. The role also contributes to SEA’s environmental education initiatives that aim to raise passenger and community awareness of sustainability efforts. Participants will gain experience in program planning, project implementation, environmental communications, marketing, and stakeholder engagement. The intern will report directly to the Port Environmental Program Manager, who will assign tasks, provide coaching, and aid in project coordination. Collaboration will extend to Aviation and Port staff, consultants, tenants, and fellow interns, offering exposure to multiple departmental functions and additional assignments as workload permits.
