About the Role
The Heavy Equipment Technician performs repairs and maintenance on heavy equipment, compact heavy equipment, light service equipment, and light trucks. Typical tasks include preventative maintenance inspections and work on hydraulic, fuel, exhaust, brakes, suspension, electrical, HVAC, and emission systems. Principal responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing mechanical problems on heavy equipment, performing repairs and preventative maintenance on electrical, diesel, and gasoline vehicles such as compactors, excavators, and wheel loaders, and working on engines, transmissions, chassis, drivelines, hydraulics, brakes, electrical, suspension, wheels, tires, and undercarriages. The technician reads equipment condition reports, communicates with supervisors and operators, completes required paperwork, daily consumables reports, and overhauls gas or diesel engines while adhering to safety policies. • Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on heavy, compact, and light equipment, including engines, transmissions, hydraulics, brakes, electrical, and suspension systems. • Diagnose mechanical issues using equipment condition reports and operator feedback, and document work via work orders and consumables reports. • Overhaul gas or diesel engines while complying with all safety policies and OSHA regulations. • Apply advanced knowledge of air brakes, tires, hydraulics, electrical systems, drivetrains, suspension, steering, and wheel‑end components; maintain ASE certification.

What You Bring
Qualifications require advanced knowledge of air brakes, tires, hydraulics, electrical systems, drivetrains, suspension, steering, and wheel‑end components, demonstrated by ASE certification and at least one year of heavy‑equipment experience. Additional credentials include a Mechanical Trade School certificate or degree, electrical diagnostics certification, Tier 4 emission system knowledge, and welding/fabrication skills. • Possess at least one year of heavy‑equipment servicing experience, a Mechanical Trade School certificate or degree, and Tier 4 emission system expertise. • Utilize welding and fabrication skills as needed for repairs.

Benefits
Minimum requirements include one year of experience in a role that applies OSHA Hazard Communications, Lock‑Out‑Tag‑Out, and fire‑protection regulations.
