About the Role

The role works with the Civil & Structural Group Lead in the UK to develop cost‑effective, efficient, and innovative civil and structural solutions to complex problems. Using engineering tools such as Revit, Tekla, Robot, AutoCAD and Civil 3D, you will create practical designs across feasibility studies, concept designs, FEED studies, value engineering and detailed design. The position also involves site work during project development, construction and commissioning. You will prepare deliverables including 3‑D structural models, design reports, general arrangement drawings, pipe‑support designs, foundation envelopes and reinforced‑concrete detailing, while supporting plant layout development and 3‑D plant models. Collaboration with equipment vendors to develop package designs and participate in technical evaluations is also expected. The role includes creating detailed engineering calculations and drawings for extra‑high‑voltage (EHV) substations—both air‑insulated (AIS) and gas‑insulated (GIS)—covering voltages from 11 kV up to 400 kV, with particular focus on 132 kV and above. You will analyze and design structures for static and dynamic loads, covering steel structures such as piperacks, shelters, GMPs, VMPs, and RCC elements like buildings, pits, foundations, piles and connections. Coordination responsibilities involve checking 3‑D models and 2‑D drawings, managing material take‑offs, and ensuring clearances with other disciplines. You will also interpret soil investigation reports, prepare technical inquiry requests, and participate in vendor bid evaluations to ensure compliance with client specifications and budgetary targets. You will work within the UK Energy Transition team, which provides end‑to‑end services from inception through construction, operation and decommissioning for low‑carbon and zero‑carbon technologies. The team collaborates with private developers, utilities, governments, financiers and OEMs to safely deliver projects that exceed client expectations. • Design cost‑effective civil and structural solutions using Revit, Tekla, Robot, AutoCAD and Civil 3D. • Produce 3‑D structural models, design reports, GA drawings, pipe‑support and foundation designs, and RC detailing. • Support plant layout creation and 3‑D plant modelling while coordinating with equipment vendors on package designs. • Generate detailed calculations and drawings for EHV substations (AIS & GIS) from 11 kV to 400 kV, focusing on 132 kV+. • Perform static and dynamic load analysis for steel and RCC structures, including piperacks, shelters, GMPs, VMPs, foundations, piles and connections. • Coordinate 3‑D and 2‑D drawings, conduct material take‑offs and ensure inter‑disciplinary clearances. • Interpret soil investigation reports and assist in technical inquiries and vendor bid evaluations. • Contribute to proposals, bids and multidisciplinary project deliverables across feasibility, detailed design, construction and commissioning phases.
