Senior Deployment Manager

About the Role

The Deployment Manager (People Leader) – BESS & Control Systems will join the Commissioning and Services team to lead technical deployment of Battery Energy Storage Systems, industrial control environments, and Linux‑based software. The role combines hands‑on execution across BESS and datacenter AI UPS projects with responsibility for building and mentoring a team of deployment engineers. In the deployment and integration domain, the manager directs installation, configuration, and validation of control and monitoring systems, oversees Linux environment patching and updates, and ensures seamless integration of EMS with SCADA, inverters, PLCs, and protection relays. They partner with commissioning and services teams to guide site execution, provide escalation support during energization and testing, and troubleshoot complex communications, controls, and networking issues. People leadership is a core component, as the manager serves as the people manager for deployment engineers, recruiting, onboarding, and developing a high‑performing team that can handle multiple concurrent projects. They set clear expectations, coach staff, conduct performance reviews, and foster a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence. The manager also owns deployment process ownership, continuously improving procedures, checklists, and commissioning readiness documentation while maintaining strict configuration management and version control. Collaboration with engineering teams focuses on enhancing deployment tools, automation, and standardization across fleets of systems. • Lead deployment and integration of BESS control systems, EMS, and site software across multiple projects. • Oversee installation, configuration, validation, and Linux‑based system management, including patching and updates. • Partner with commissioning and services teams to ensure smooth site execution and provide escalation support. • Troubleshoot complex communications, controls, software, and networking issues in the field. • Manage and develop a high‑performing deployment engineering team, including hiring, coaching, and performance reviews. • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence. • Own and continuously improve deployment procedures, checklists, and documentation with strong configuration management. • Support datacenter AI UPS projects, meeting uptime, resiliency, and performance requirements. • Apply expertise in PLC/SCADA, industrial protocols (Modbus, DNP3, OPC‑UA, IEC 61850), inverter/BMS integration, and Linux software deployment. • Travel 30–50% to customer and project sites as project phases dictate.

What You Bring

Required qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer Engineering, Energy Systems, or equivalent experience, and 5–10 + years of deployment, commissioning, or field engineering experience in energy or industrial control settings. Candidates must have hands‑on BESS project delivery experience and familiarity with EMS platforms, PLC/SCADA systems, industrial networking protocols (Modbus, DNP3, OPC‑UA, IEC 61850), inverter and BMS integration, as well as Linux software deployment and command‑line troubleshooting; scripting knowledge in Bash or Python is a plus. Leadership expectations call for prior experience managing technical field teams, coordinating cross‑functional stakeholders, and strong organizational and communication skills to guide complex site execution challenges. Preferred backgrounds include work on datacenter power infrastructure, UPS systems, cybersecurity best practices, fleet monitoring, remote deployments, and OTA update strategies. • Demonstrate 5–10+ years of experience in energy or industrial control deployment and BESS project delivery. • Hold a bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer Engineering, Energy Systems, or equivalent.
