About the Role

• Perform basic architectural/engineering calculations. • Prepare specifications, reports and related data tables. • Maintain liaison with design and drafting groups. • Prepare, review, and approve drawings as required. • Under the direction of the Supervising Architect, independently perform advanced technical assignments of various complexities within approved schedules and budgets. • Coordinate technical and administrative activities with employees in other disciplines and departments participating on an assigned project. • Assist in the training and evaluation of assigned architectural and design/drafting personnel. • Review and approve conceptual designs. • Assist in the development of new architectural methods and techniques.

What You Bring

AECOM is seeking a talented and highly motivated Architectural Job Captain for immediate employment in our Cleveland or Columbus, OH office. Reporting to the Project Architect, the Job Captain will actively engage in our collaborative, iterative design process, seeking innovative solutions while providing unique perspectives on the built environment. The role requires strong verbal, organizational, design, and technical skills to effectively coordinate with architectural and engineering design teams. Minimum qualifications include a BA/BS in Architecture with four years of relevant experience, licensure or steps toward licensure (preferably in Ohio), knowledge of building systems, materials, and local codes, and the ability to produce design intent renderings and concept diagrams. Preferred qualifications add six or more years of professional experience, exceptional technical skills in planning, design, and detailing, experience coordinating across civil, landscape, and MEP disciplines, and proficiency with Revit, SketchUp, Rhino, and Microsoft Office. Candidates should also demonstrate strong communication, teamwork, and the ability to mentor junior staff.

Benefits

This position follows a hybrid work model with no remote‑only option, does not provide sponsorship now or in the future, and offers a compensation range of $85,000–$115,000 based on education, qualifications, experience, and location.
