About the Role
You will join Southern Water’s Wastewater Team to maintain and repair wastewater treatment works, sludge centres, and pumping stations, ensuring compliance with environmental, quality, and safety standards while supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The role includes participation in a 1‑in‑7 day standby rota and 24/7 incident support, reflecting the company's commitment to rapid resolution of out‑of‑hours issues to maintain service quality for customers. • Perform reactive and planned maintenance on wastewater treatment plants, sludge centres, and pumping stations. • Install new plant and equipment as required. • Respond to alarms, conduct fault‑finding, and repair or escalate issues. • Inspect and test mechanical equipment following company procedures. • Provide technical expertise to internal and external contractors. • Update company systems and databases promptly and accurately. • Participate in a 1‑in‑7 day standby rota and incident support when needed.

What You Bring
• Hold an essential Level 3 NVQ Mechanical qualification. • Maintain a full UK driving licence. • Demonstrate strong problem‑solving abilities and work effectively under pressure. • Desirable: experience in the water industry and knowledge of pumping station operations, wastewater processes, and health & safety legislation.
