About the Role
The technician performs operational functions related to emergency response, hazardous and non‑hazardous spill clean‑up, and hazmat decontamination work. Typical duties include tank cleaning, oil spill cleanup, drum handling, decontamination, sweeping, shoveling, high‑pressure washing, and other remedial activities, often in confined spaces such as manholes. The position requires responding to customer spills and emergencies during both regular business hours and after hours, maintaining general housekeeping, and ensuring equipment and worksite maintenance. Light and heavy equipment—roll‑off trucks, vacuum trucks, box trucks, skid steer, forklift, pumps, and pallet‑jacks—are operated, with pre‑trip and post‑trip DOT inspections and vehicle logs completed. All responsibilities must be performed safely and efficiently, adhering to safety policies and regulations. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

What You Bring
The Environmental Services (ES) Field Technician II works under general supervision, receives general work instructions, and applies limited judgment in resolving problems. The role involves semi‑routine tasks, with the incumbent making decisions within a moderate scope and the opportunity to train or guide less experienced team members. Preferred qualifications include the ability to read and comprehend operational, technical, safety, and quality documents, proficiency with hand and shop tools, and an understanding of chemical hazards and safety data sheets. Candidates should be willing to provide input on work practices, communicate unsafe conditions, demonstrate a positive attitude, mental resilience, accuracy, and attention to detail, and be able to prioritize multiple responsibilities. Proficiency with light tablet/PC use, a general understanding of waste management processes, and the ability to operate heavy and light equipment are also required. A Class C driver’s license with Hazmat endorsement, a current confined‑space entry certificate, or the ability to obtain one, are preferred. Minimum qualifications include 2–4 years of relevant experience, the ability to pass a 40‑hour HAZWOPER training upon hire, and the capacity to lift objects up to 50 lb. Experience with light and heavy equipment and responding to hazardous and non‑hazardous emergencies or clean‑up is required.
