About the Role
The role involves design and project management of traffic signals and illumination, preparing lighting and signal layouts, wiring diagrams, and electrical details, performing photometric analyses, designing low‑voltage distribution for subdivisions, conducting voltage‑drop calculations, and preparing contract documents and specifications. You will also conduct site visits, administer contracts, coordinate multidisciplinary projects for public and private clients, and travel to other Dillon offices when required. Commitment to continuous learning is expected, including self‑development, mentoring junior staff, providing technical direction and training recommendations, and active participation in professional associations and committees to enhance Dillon’s corporate profile. • Design traffic signals and illumination systems • Prepare lighting and traffic signal layouts • Create wiring diagrams and electrical detail drawings • Conduct photometric analysis of lighting systems • Design low‑voltage electrical distribution for subdivisions • Perform voltage‑drop calculations • Prepare contract documents and specifications • Conduct site visits and manage contract administration • Coordinate multidisciplinary projects for public and private clients • Travel to other Dillon offices as needed • Mentor junior staff with technical direction and coaching • Participate in professional associations and committees • Apply municipal, MTO, ANSI/IES, and Ontario Electrical Safety Code standards • Manage and coordinate project activities

Dillon’s Electrical Discipline is seeking an Electrical Designer – Lighting and Traffic Signals to join its multidisciplinary team. You will work on new and exciting projects delivering a fully integrated customer experience, with the flexibility to be based in Windsor, Ottawa, Kingston, or Hamilton and to balance work with personal life through flexible hours. A degree in electrical engineering and licensure as a professional engineer in Ontario (or eligibility within six months) are required, along with 1‑4 years of consulting experience. IMSA certifications in traffic signal and roadway lighting design are advantageous, as are skills with AGi32, municipal and MTO standards, project management, and strong verbal and written communication. • Hold an electrical engineering degree • Be licensed (or eligible) as a professional engineer in Ontario • Possess 1‑4 years of consulting experience • Have IMSA Traffic Signal and Roadway Lighting certifications (asset) • Use AGi32 and other lighting calculation programs • Demonstrate exceptional verbal and written communication skills

The salary range is $65,000‑$109,100, dependent on education, experience, skills, internal equity, and location.
