About the Role

The Research Psychologist will act as a key scientist, facilitating ongoing studies, writing proposals for directed research and grant solicitations, and performing data analyses. They will prepare reports, journal articles, and presentations that convey study results to stakeholders. Collaboration is central to the position; the psychologist will interface regularly with NASA customers, the Biomedical Research and Environmental Sciences Division, external principal investigators, flight surgeons, mission managers, and multidisciplinary teams. Deliverables support programs such as the Human Research Program, Space Medicine Division, EVA and Human Surface Mobility, and the Mars Campaign Office. In partnership with the BHP Lab Lead, the psychologist will develop and implement research activities, monitor multiple project schedules, and maintain data quality standards. They will provide subject‑matter expertise, assist technical monitors with standards updates, and help streamline laboratory processes and personnel management. • Develop and submit grant and directed research proposals. • Conduct, coordinate, and analyze behavioral health and performance data. • Write interim and final reports, literature reviews, and scientific manuscripts. • Present research findings to NASA program management and at conferences. • Collaborate with NASA, external partners, and multidisciplinary teams to plan and execute studies. • Monitor project schedules, deliverables, and provide status updates to technical monitors. • Maintain laboratory data quality practices and standards. • Provide expertise for research design, methodologies, and assessment technologies.

What You Bring

Required qualifications include a Ph.D. and at least three years of experience in areas such as neuropsychology, clinical, I/O, space, health psychology, or behavioral medicine, along with proficiency in MS Office, R, and RMarkdown. Strong technical writing, communication, project‑management, and ethical handling of human‑research data are essential. • Required: Ph.D. in psychology‑related field and 3+ years relevant experience. • Proficient with MS Office, R, and RMarkdown for data analysis and reporting. • Demonstrated technical writing and effective communication skills. • Strong organizational and project‑management abilities. • Desired: Experience managing research projects and working in NASA, aerospace, or military environments. • Desired: Ability to evaluate technologies for behavioral health assessment in spaceflight.
