About the Role

Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with lift attachments, transporting waste or recyclable containers to disposal, transfer or recycle facilities once legal load capacity is reached. They provide pick‑up services for containers that can exceed 1,000 lb and must execute precise backing maneuvers. Roles include Commercial, Residential and Roll‑off drivers, each navigating high‑traffic roadways, driveways, alleyways and tight industrial environments. Drivers must operate vehicles in compliance with WM Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA and DOT regulations, and all applicable laws. They conduct pre‑ and post‑trip inspections, submit DVIR reports, and immediately report unsafe conditions or incidents to the Operations Manager or Dispatch. Participation in scheduled training, route‑efficiency initiatives, and accurate end‑of‑day documentation is required, as is assisting fellow drivers when needed. • Operate heavy‑duty trucks with front, side or rear‑end lift attachments to transport waste or recyclables. • Perform pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle inspections and complete DVIR documentation. • Follow WM safety, OSHA, DOT and all local, state and federal regulations while driving. • Report unsafe conditions, incidents, accidents, injuries or property damage to Operations Manager or Dispatch. • Communicate service interruptions, heavy receptacles and customer requests to Operations Manager or Dispatch. • Execute safe backing maneuvers to load or unload containers weighing over 1,000 lb. • Follow assigned routes, dump receptacles, keep customer locations clean, and complete end‑of‑day paperwork. • Assist other drivers as directed to meet customer needs. • Perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling, sitting, talking and hearing.

What You Bring

Applicants need at least one year of experience operating a vehicle requiring a CDL or equivalent military driving experience within the past seven years, must be at least 18 years old, and legally eligible to work in the country. A Class A or Class B CDL with an air‑brake endorsement is required; a high school diploma or GED is preferred. The role involves standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling, sitting, talking and hearing throughout the workday, with reasonable accommodations provided as needed. The position may require travel by air or access to federal property, so candidates must possess a REAL ID or an acceptable TSA‑approved alternative. Our drivers are professional, well‑trained and home on nights and weekends, serving communities by keeping them clean and safe. • Hold a Class A or Class B CDL with an air‑brake endorsement (or equivalent military driving experience). • Be at least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the country. • Preferably possess a high school diploma or GED.
