About the Role
The Carpenter is responsible for designing, constructing, erecting, installing, and repairing structures and other items made of wood, plywood, and wallboard using pneumatic and electric power tools. This role includes fastening materials with nails, screws, staples, or adhesives and performing a final accuracy check. The carpenter must understand advanced layout techniques, material takeoff from drawings, and safety requirements, and be prepared to work in plant operations or construction jobsite settings. Key responsibilities include reading and interpreting blueprints and sketches, instructing laborers and trade helpers, building and setting forms, tying rebar, constructing scaffolds, and performing finish carpentry. The position demands strong physical abilities, such as lifting up to 50 lb (occasionally 100 lb), repetitive hand/arm motions, climbing and balancing on steel or wood frameworks, and working in uneven, muddy, or adverse weather conditions.
