About the Role

The Transmission Equipment Operator is an entry-level position responsible for construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical transmission systems. Work locations vary and may require interstate travel based on customer demand. Operators perform both energized and de-energized overhead line work, install and service transmission equipment, and ensure all activities are carried out safely. • Perform safe construction, maintenance, and repair of energized and de-energized overhead transmission lines. • String overhead wire and install poles, anchors, crossarms, insulators, and switchgear. • Assist with installation and hookup of transformers, lightning arrestors, cutouts, and related equipment. • Replace transformer fuses and clear faulted circuits. • Operate heavy equipment and conduct basic rigging, hand‑line work, and knot tying. • Conduct bucket rescue/escape procedures and work at heights or in confined spaces. • Inspect and maintain rubber goods, PPE, tools, and company vehicles. • Follow radio communication protocols, flag‑and‑tag procedures, and minimum approach distances. • Identify primary/secondary and induced voltages on circuits. • Comply with safety regulations, wear appropriate PPE, and perform ground‑set up tasks.

What You Bring

The role requires proficiency with heavy equipment, rigging, hand lines, and basic rescue techniques, as well as the ability to inspect and maintain tools, vehicles, and personal protective equipment. Candidates need 1-2 years of relevant experience, English communication skills, and the ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License permit within 60 days (CDL preferred). The position also demands physical stamina, the capacity to lift over 50 lb, and flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and travel on short notice. Work involves exposure to outdoor weather, noise, fumes, and vibration, and strict adherence to safety rules.
