About the Role
The Metal Working Machine Operator is responsible for facilitating the assembly and fabrication of products using sheet‑metal manipulation equipment. This includes operating machinery such as brakes, shears, saws and punches under the supervision of a Team Lead, Senior Production Manager or Supervisor. Key duties involve reading blueprints, programming machining equipment, fabricating piece parts, and assembling them into final products. The operator must inspect and maintain equipment, report any malfunctions, keep the department clean, and notify supervisors of unsafe conditions. When trained and authorized, the role may also require material movement using a forklift or overhead crane, always adhering to safety standards and the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act. Johnson Controls enhances the intelligence of buildings by delivering integrated systems, digital solutions and services that make structures safer, more comfortable, efficient and sustainable, supporting the missions of diverse occupants worldwide. • Operate metal‑working machines (brake, shear, saw, punch) to fabricate and assemble parts. • Read and interpret blueprints, program equipment, and ensure parts meet specifications. • Inspect, maintain, and report equipment malfunctions to supervisors. • Keep the work area organized and clean, and report unsafe conditions. • Assist team leads and tradespeople, including material handling with forklift/crane when authorized. • Follow all safety protocols and Alberta OHS regulations. • Utilize reliable transportation to commute to the Nisku facility. • Work rotating day shift (6 AM‑6 PM) according to the scheduled pattern.

What You Bring
Candidates should have completed high school or an equivalent level of education, with additional technical training or apprenticeship preferred. Experience with safe manufacturing practices, good English communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with supervisors and team members are essential. The position is performed in a commercial/industrial environment that demands manual dexterity, long periods of standing, and occasional overtime. Employees must consistently wear protective equipment and follow all safety policies. • Complete high school (or equivalent); additional training or apprenticeship preferred. • Demonstrate good English communication and teamwork skills.
