About the Role
Each day you will maintain and repair trucks and equipment that serve over 20 million customers nationwide, using modern tools on diesel and CNG vehicles. The job includes inspections, diagnostics, repairs, safety checks, and detailed documentation, ensuring reliable service for the local community. • Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems • Estimate time and material costs for repairs and new parts • Respond to emergency breakdown service calls • Perform vehicle safety checks • Document parts usage and repair times on required paperwork • Assist senior mechanics on project work • Review and address repairs identified in Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports • Maintain a clean, safe work area meeting corporate and OSHA standards

What You Bring
Diesel Mechanics at WM work Monday‑Friday from 6:45 PM to 3:15 AM, with occasional Saturday shifts and overtime when needed. The position is based in the repair and maintenance shop at the Chicago, IL hauling site, providing a consistent schedule for financial security and work‑life balance. Candidates must possess a REAL ID or approved alternative for any required travel. • Complete work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs) • Minimum 2 years relevant mechanical experience • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record • Must be 18 years or older and eligible to work in the United States • Ability to meet physical demands with or without reasonable accommodations • Pass pre‑employment drug screen and physical examination • Works well independently and collaboratively • Determined problem solver • Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, climbing; constant standing, walking, grasping • Exposure to cuts, burns, toxic chemicals, dirt, odors, noise, and extreme weather • Work performed both indoors (garage/shop) and outdoors in inclement conditions
