About the Role
The role safeguards Schneider Electric’s business interests by leading the review, negotiation, and approval of complex contractual and legal arrangements, ensuring compliance with Indian law, Group directives, and regulatory standards. It serves as a strategic legal partner to internal stakeholders and customers, mitigating contractual risks while enabling commercial growth. The position also involves managing a legal team alongside individual contributor responsibilities. Key responsibilities include examining and approving contracts, sub‑contracts, and non‑standard conditions, negotiating terms with clients, and securing risk‑review approvals through Schneider’s internal procedures. The lawyer will lead legal risk reviews, provide training to cross‑functional teams, and drive process improvements to enhance governance and compliance across projects. • Review, vet, and negotiate contracts and legal documents for compliance with Indian law and Schneider directives • Lead risk reviews and obtain approvals via Schneider’s risk review procedure • Provide legal guidance to internal stakeholders and customers as a strategic partner • Conduct training and knowledge sharing on legal and compliance matters for cross‑functional teams • Manage and develop the legal team while contributing as an individual contributor • Identify and mitigate contractual risks and exposures • Negotiate acceptable contract terms with clients, coordinating with relevant Group functions • Ensure handover of contractual obligations to project teams • Maintain integrity, governance, and regulatory compliance across projects

What You Bring

The ideal candidate is an experienced lawyer with over 18 years of post‑qualification experience, extensive background in negotiating large‑value construction or engineering contracts, and proficiency in EPC infrastructure agreements. Additional qualifications include drafting, litigation, dispute resolution, and the ability to meet demanding deadlines while collaborating effectively within teams. • Essential skills: strong communication, attention to detail, analytical problem‑solving, stakeholder management, commercial mindset, discretion with confidential information • Required experience: 18+ years PQE, extensive negotiation of large‑value construction/EPC contracts, drafting, litigation, dispute resolution
