About the Role
Under general supervision, the engineer will collect, compile, and analyze data from work sites, surveys, blueprints, GIS, maps, and other technical sources to support project development, design, and construction. Responsibilities include conducting investigations of existing and proposed site conditions, roadways, intersections, signage, signals, and pavement markings to verify compliance with applicable rules and permits, as well as assisting with traffic engineering studies, capacity analyses, traffic count implementation, and signal system design. The position also requires generating documentation using electronic systems and field logs, adhering to safety guidelines, completing assigned training, and exercising ethical decision‑making. • Provide technical assistance for analysis, design, and operation of streets and highways. • Assist with capacity analyses, traffic signal design, and timing. • Collect and analyze site data, surveys, GIS, maps, and technical matrices. • Conduct investigations of roadways, intersections, signage, and compliance with standards. • Support traffic engineering studies, traffic counts, and operations analysis. • Produce accurate documentation using electronic systems and field logs. • Follow safety guidelines, complete training, and uphold ethical standards. • Maintain a safety record and adhere to WSP health, safety, and harassment policies.

What You Bring
Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a closely related discipline and 0 to 1 year of relevant post‑education experience. Candidates must possess strong research and analytical skills, familiarity with roadway transportation laws and codes, effective interpersonal and communication abilities, and self‑leadership with attention to detail in a dynamic environment. Proficiency with technical writing, office automation, spreadsheets, and design software such as AutoCAD and MicroStation is expected, along with a proven safety record and the ability to work flexible schedules and travel occasionally. Preferred qualifications are an Engineer‑in‑Training certification, prior internship experience related to the engineering discipline, and active participation in local professional practice organizations. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 0–1 year of relevant experience. • Demonstrate strong research, analytical, and communication skills. • Proficient in AutoCAD, MicroStation, office software, and technical writing. • Preferred: Engineer‑in‑Training certification and prior internship experience.
