About the Role
Key duties include establishing engineering control, capturing data via GNSS, UAS and traditional methods, overseeing Geospatial and Assistant Geospatial Engineers, acting as Remote Pilot for UAS operations, maintaining and calibrating equipment, completing diary sheets and photographic records, conducting material reconciliations with DTM software, performing as‑built surveys, producing 2D and 3D site drawings, maintaining quality records, assisting with basic planning and monitoring, mentoring junior staff, introducing new processes, safeguarding company property, and promoting a safe working environment. • Establish engineering control and capture geospatial data using GNSS, UAS, and traditional methods. • Lead and mentor Geospatial and Assistant Geospatial Engineers. • Operate UAS as Remote Pilot, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations. • Maintain, calibrate, and inspect surveying equipment regularly. • Record field activities with diary entries and photographic evidence. • Conduct material reconciliations using DTM software and perform as‑built surveys. • Produce accurate 2D and 3D site drawings. • Ensure data quality aligns with client specifications and company standards. • Support basic planning, monitoring, and programming tasks. • Identify and implement new processes, techniques, and innovations. • Safeguard company property and promote a safe working environment.

Galliford Try is seeking a Senior Geospatial Engineer for its Environment Business Unit, based in Annesley. The role involves frequent travel to active sites across the region, and candidates should ideally reside within commuting distance of Nottinghamshire. This technically demanding position requires senior‑level field experience in geospatial data acquisition, analysis, and interpretation to support infrastructure and environmental engineering projects. The engineer will deliver accurate geospatial data for planning, design, and construction, performing topographical, boundary, and utility surveys using advanced instrumentation and software. The ideal candidate can read and interpret drawings, is confident with standard geospatial capture techniques, flexible, and a strong problem‑solver. They must be aware of individual health and safety responsibilities and align with Galliford Try’s values of Excellence, Passion, Integrity and Collaboration.
