About the Role

The intern will assist with a range of accounting functions, including ensuring client contractual billing requirements are met, processing vendor and subcontractor invoices, and supporting the monthly close by posting or accruing client bills and project costs. Additional duties involve responding to audit requests, facilitating data entry for project‑specific invoices, handling administrative tasks such as vendor setup and tax reporting, and preparing documentation for owner payment applications. The intern will also provide periodic progress reports, apply academic knowledge to company processes, and adhere to corporate policies and professional standards. • Assist accountant to meet client billing and accounts receivable contractual requirements. • Process vendor invoices and keep accounts payable up to date for assigned projects. • Process subcontractor invoices, ensuring lien waivers, contracts, and insurance requirements are submitted. • Support monthly close by posting or accruing client bills and project costs. • Respond to internal and external audit requests. • Enter project-specific vendor invoice data and prepare multi-project invoices for central processing. • Perform administrative tasks such as vendor setup, tax reporting, and managing client tax‑exempt certificates. • Help compile supporting documentation for Turner owner payment applications. • Provide periodic progress reports to supervisor. • Apply academic knowledge to real‑world finance tasks and adhere to company policies.

What You Bring

This temporary Finance Intern position is based in Memphis, Tennessee (Memphis Main Division) and reports to the Accounting Manager, Accountant, or Senior Accountant within Operational Finance. The role is classified as a non‑exempt internship within the Finance job family and provides financial services support to profit centers. Qualified candidates must be enrolled in an accredited four‑year college or university, preferably in Accounting or Finance, with at least one year of relevant coursework. Candidates should demonstrate interpersonal skills through leadership, volunteerism, or community involvement, and show enthusiasm for learning Turner’s finance strategy and core values. Strong organizational abilities, clear written and verbal communication, independent and team‑oriented work habits, and proficiency with MS Office—especially intermediate to advanced Excel—are required. The position requires physical abilities such as climbing stairs and ladders, using construction hoists, and navigating work areas under construction. Employees must have adequate close, peripheral, and depth vision, and be capable of lifting or moving heavy objects, as well as performing tasks that involve standing, stooping, kneeling, and crawling. Work is performed primarily on‑site at construction locations, exposing the intern to moving mechanical parts, elevated areas, fumes, weather conditions, and potential electrical hazards. The environment can be moderately to very loud, and reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.
