About the Role
The Southeast Area Environmental Planning and Permitting (EPP) Department Manager will lead a regional team serving federal, state, and local governments as well as private clients. The role focuses on driving revenue growth, maintaining high staff utilization, managing the department’s profit and loss, and mentoring approximately 60 environmental professionals. The manager must oversee the full spectrum of natural resources studies required for federal and state permitting, including NEPA Environmental Assessments and Impact Statements, and manage multi‑million‑dollar contracts with public outreach deliverables. Collaboration with sales leads, project delivery leads, and regional business managers is essential to ensure client satisfaction and financial performance. • Lead and develop a team of ~60 environmental professionals, enhancing technical expertise. • Oversee departmental profit and loss, driving revenue growth and high staff utilization. • Review proposals for technical and financial accuracy; develop and track business plans. • Advise regional business managers on staffing, recruitment, retention, and technical excellence. • Act as project manager, lead verifier, or technical lead on key environmental studies and permits. • Collaborate with Project Delivery Leads to ensure client satisfaction and financial performance. • Identify and solve operational challenges, establishing standards for natural resource activities. • Execute tactical business plans and support regional business development initiatives. • Recruit, mentor, and retain staff at all levels to build a high‑performing department. • Ensure compliance with NEPA assessments, Environmental Impact Statements, and multi‑million‑dollar contracts.

What You Bring
• Minimum: BA/BS in Environmental Science (or equivalent) with 10+ years experience, including 2 years leadership. • Must possess a valid driver’s license, pass motor vehicle records review, and be a U.S. citizen. • Preferred: MA/MS or MBA, 15+ years in natural resource investigations and permitting in the Southeast. • Demonstrated ability to manage interdisciplinary teams delivering complex environmental documents. • Experience in fiscal management and reporting for large projects or cost centers.

Benefits
The position is based in Greenville, SC, with a hybrid work model and an annual compensation range of $170,000 to $220,000.
