About the Role

This role involves wiring the interior of control cabinets for switchgears, combining mechanical assembly and electrical wiring. The technician will use blueprints of the cabinet frame and component layout, following work instructions and point‑to‑point wire diagrams to install all internal components with hand tools. After assembly, the employee will perform point‑to‑point testing to confirm proper wiring and will have their work inspected for quality before proceeding. Responsibilities include interpreting drawings, engineering specifications, and manufacturing information; determining required parts, preparing requisitions, and routing, assembling, wiring, adjusting, fitting, and modifying components to create a complete control assembly. The technician also checks electrical and mechanical performance against Broomfield Plant standards, makes necessary adjustments, executes engineering or customer changes, performs repairs, and reports any irregularities or equipment malfunctions. • Wire control cabinets using blueprints and point‑to‑point diagrams. • Perform mechanical assembly and electrical wiring of switchgear cabinets. • Cut, crimp, strip, and terminate wires; route and secure wiring. • Conduct point‑to‑point testing to verify proper wiring. • Inspect and adjust work to meet Broomfield Plant quality standards. • Execute engineering and customer changes, and make required repairs. • Report equipment irregularities or malfunctions to supervisor or lead. • Follow all safety and hygiene regulations and maintain a clean work area. • Read and interpret assembly prints, mechanical prints, and schematics. • Use hand tools, power tools, battery‑operated and compressed‑air tools, tape measure, and multimeter.

What You Bring

The position requires a basic knowledge of mathematics, strict observance of safety and hygiene regulations, and maintenance of a clean work area. Candidates must read and interpret point‑to‑point assembly prints, mechanical assembly prints, and schematics, and be proficient with hand, power, battery‑operated, and compressed‑air tools, as well as tape measures and multimeters. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, two to four years of electronic assembly experience, prior IPC certification, attention to detail, self‑motivation, manual dexterity, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Applicants must reside within a 50‑mile radius of Richmond, VA, unless they are active‑duty military; no relocation assistance is provided. • Possess a high school diploma or GED and 2‑4 years electronic assembly experience. • Hold prior IPC certification and demonstrate attention to detail. • Exhibit manual dexterity, mechanical aptitude, self‑motivation, and ability to work independently or collaboratively. • Reside within 50 miles of Richmond, VA (military exemption applies); no relocation benefit.
