About the Role

This position reports to the Gas Operations Manager and is responsible for operating and maintaining landfill gas collection and control systems (GCCS). The GCCS includes extraction wells, interconnected piping, conveyance equipment such as fans or blowers, and a flare for combusting collected landfill gas. Proper operation ensures compliance with state and federal environmental regulations. Key duties involve timely and cost‑effective operation of the GCCS to meet performance and regulatory goals. Tasks include calibrating electronic data devices, managing data from wellfield extractions and monitoring sites, implementing a preventative maintenance plan, operating liquid‑management pumps, adjusting wellfield valves and vacuum levels, and maintaining PVC or HDPE piping. The role also requires completing WM Landfill Gas Technician I training, understanding relevant environmental regulations, adhering to health and safety procedures, and being on‑call for system malfunctions. • Operate and maintain landfill gas collection and control systems (GCCS) to meet regulatory standards. • Calibrate and manage electronic data collection devices for optimal LFG capture. • Record and analyze data from wellfield extraction and environmental monitoring sites. • Execute the GCCS preventative maintenance plan. • Operate and troubleshoot liquid‑management pumps and assess liquid levels. • Adjust wellfield valves and vacuum settings, then document results. • Perform maintenance on PVC and HDPE piping networks. • Follow all health and safety procedures and report hazards. • Respond on‑call to GCCS malfunctions or emergencies. • Use data‑logging systems for data entry and interpretation. • Participate in a 401(k) plan with company match and a stock purchase plan.

What You Bring

Required qualifications are a valid, unrestricted driver’s license. Preferred candidates have hands‑on experience in environmental fieldwork, construction, electrical or mechanical settings, and familiarity with gas collection systems, pumps, blowers, or flare equipment. Technical or trade‑school training in environmental science, mechanical systems, or instrumentation, as well as experience with PVC/HDPE piping, data logging, and mechanical maintenance, are valued. Candidates must be able to work independently in field environments with minimal supervision. • Complete WM Landfill Gas Technician I training certification. • Apply knowledge of environmental regulations during system operation. • Hold a valid, unrestricted driver’s license. • Possess hands‑on experience with gas collection systems, pumps, blowers, or flare equipment. • Have technical or trade‑school training in environmental science, mechanical systems, or instrumentation. • Experience working with PVC or HDPE piping components. • Demonstrate mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting pumps, motors, and pneumatic equipment. • Work independently in field environments with minimal supervision.
