About the Role

The Preconstruction Project Manager, based in San Diego, CA, leads the Preconstruction Group from notice of award through project mobilization. This role oversees daily management, coordination, and successful delivery of project scope, budget and schedule, and handles project meetings, cost comparisons, schedule updates, contract exhibit management and strategic buy‑out negotiations. The position requires close collaboration with business development, engineering, accounting, construction and legal teams to develop contract scopes, align procurement with LNTPs, and ensure design constraints and material lead‑times are addressed. The manager also represents SOLV Energy in owner meetings, supports estimating reconciliation, and provides timely cost forecasting and risk mitigation reporting. • Maintain cost control ledger and job cost statements • Prepare billings and expedite payments • Set up and manage CMiC system for project tracking • Prepare bid packages, solicit and evaluate bids • Write project procedures and review plans for completeness • Supervise and train Preconstruction Project Engineers and clerical staff • Align procurement activities with LNTP scope, budget and schedule • Collaborate with business development, engineering, accounting, construction and legal to create contract scopes of work • Define and create LNTPs and research project‑specific design, owner and permit requirements • Liaise with Engineering Manager to track schedule or budget impacts and inform Project Executive • Represent SOLV Energy in owner meetings and support estimating reconciliation for design iterations • Provide accurate cost forecasting, estimate at completion and risk mitigation reports • Develop and maintain relationships with owners, engineers, vendors and subcontractors • Support Operations and Contracts teams in negotiating final EPC budget, scope and schedule • Communicate finalized scope of work to Procurement, Operations and business partners • Ensure compliance with contract law and project accounting standards • Travel approximately 25% to project sites as needed

What You Bring

Candidates must hold an engineering, construction management or architectural degree (or equivalent experience) and have 5–8 years of field experience as a Project Engineer or Assistant Superintendent. Required skills include leadership of diverse remote teams, strong written and verbal communication, proficiency with MS Office and Bluebeam, fundamental knowledge of contract law and project accounting, and the ability to travel approximately 25%. • Engineering, Construction Management or Architectural degree (or equivalent experience) • 5–8 years field experience as Project Engineer or Assistant Superintendent • 2+ years experience in scheduling and estimating • Proven leadership ability to build high‑performing remote teams • Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills • Proficiency with MS Office suite and Bluebeam Revu • Fundamental knowledge of contract law and project accounting • Detail‑oriented, motivated self‑starter
