About the Role

The technician will provide Tier II, front‑line support for IT and network infrastructure within the data center. Services are delivered on behalf of system owners to protect data and ensure availability, covering installation, maintenance, and ongoing operations of cabinets, equipment, and communications services. Key duties include installing and powering servers, peripherals, and network gear, terminating fiber and copper cabling, and handling hot‑swappable hardware components. The role also involves basic software support, visual inspections, responding to scheduled and emergency dispatches, and documenting work in ticketing and asset‑management systems while complying with safety policies and service level agreements. • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals. • Respond to scheduled and emergency dispatches for after‑hours service calls and security escorts. • Install and power‑up servers, peripherals, and network equipment (rack & stack). • Install, dress, and terminate fiber and copper communications cables. • Replace hot‑swappable or modular hardware components such as hard drives and power supplies. • Perform controlled system reboots, process/service reinitialization, and device configuration under supervision. • Conduct visual inspections and provide status reports per customer requests. • Complete assigned tasks on schedule to meet customer deadlines. • Follow site‑specific procedures and documentation provided for each assignment. • Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures while handling equipment up to 30 kg, using ladders, and operating hand tools. • Provide security escort services for carriers, service providers, and maintenance technicians. • Ensure service level agreement compliance, including response time, resolution rate, service quality, and customer satisfaction. • Receive, record, and store shipments of equipment and materials. • Document work in ticketing, asset‑management, and record‑keeping systems. • Respond to off‑hour emergency calls. • Provide personal transportation for meetings and job visits (reimbursed).

What You Bring

Candidates must have at least two years of IT and networking experience in a data‑center or similar environment, a solid understanding of data‑center architecture, and familiarity with security standards such as HIPAA and ISO‑27001. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Visio, and AutoCAD, strong troubleshooting and customer‑service skills, and the ability to work 24/7 shift schedules and on‑call rotations are required. Relevant certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA A+, Microsoft MCSA/MCSE) are considered a plus. The position requires physical activity, including walking uneven terrain, lifting up to 75 lb, and working at heights using ladders. Employees must be able to respond to off‑hour emergencies and provide personal transportation for off‑site meetings, which is reimbursed. • Minimum two years’ experience with IT and networking systems in a data‑center environment. • Experience with dynamic colocation and managed services environments (preferred). • Understanding of data‑center architectures: cabinets, containment, power distribution, compute, network, and cabling systems. • Familiarity with security and audit standards such as HIPAA, ISO‑27001, PCI, PWGSC, CSAE‑3416, SSAE‑16, SOC 1, and SOC 2. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Visio, and AutoCAD. • Ability to act with urgency to deliver world‑class customer support. • Ability to work diverse teams, promote knowledge transfer, and maintain cohesiveness. • Availability to work all shift schedules 24/7/365 and participate in on‑call rotation. • Experience with server hardware running Windows or UNIX/Linux operating systems. • Basic knowledge of network hardware and TCP/IP principles. • Strong collaboration skills with customers, colleagues, and service providers. • Ability to work independently with limited supervision. • High standards for workmanship, organization, and workspace cleanliness. • Effective troubleshooting skills for systems and infrastructure problems. • Strong customer service and communication abilities, both verbal and written. • Ability to walk uneven terrain and work at heights using ladders. • Regularly lift or move up to 75 lb.
