About the Role

The Lead Planning Engineer role is responsible for supporting the project by managing the planning process and personnel, assisting the Project Controls Manager and Planning Department Head, and ensuring the client gains maximum business benefits from the schedule. Primary objectives include proactive support of the project through planning management, providing expertise, and overseeing planning activities across design and construction phases. The role involves supervising the planning function, assessing and improving working practices, ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality systems, and managing the planning team to deliver comprehensive scheduling services. The engineer will coordinate with clients, engineering, construction, operations, and asset focal points, prepare regular status reports and forecasts, maintain baseline schedules, analyze changes, and oversee asset and shutdown planning. • Supervise planning activities during design and construction phases. • Evaluate and improve working practices, systems, and team performance. • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards. • Lead the Planning Team to provide end‑to‑end scheduling services. • Direct Planning Focal Point and Planning Engineers. • Coordinate with client UEV Cost & Planning to implement and improve planning processes. • Prepare weekly and monthly reports and analyze contractor submissions. • Manage asset preparation and shutdown planning for consistency and accuracy. • Liaise with Engineering, Construction, Operations Development, and Asset teams to align scope and requirements. • Report status and forecasts to project management and client stakeholders. • Develop and mentor planning staff across home and field locations. • Maintain baseline schedule, assess change impacts, and control baseline changes.

What You Bring

Required qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in engineering, at least 10 years of post‑graduation experience (including 5 years in oil & gas projects and 5 years in a similar planning role), hands‑on planning expertise, and proficiency in planning software such as Primavera or MS Project. Essential skills include analysis, problem solving, creativity, communication, presentation, and influence. • Bachelor’s degree in engineering. • Minimum 10 years post‑graduation experience; at least 5 years in oil & gas projects. • At least 5 years in a similar planning role with hands‑on planning duties. • Minimum 2 years experience using Primavera or MS Project. • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and creative thinking abilities. • Excellent written, oral, and presentation communication skills. • Ability to influence, persuade, and work collaboratively.
