About the Role

Mortenson is seeking a Business Development Manager I to partner with business‑unit market leaders in developing and supporting positioning strategies for existing and prospective customers. The role focuses on winning project work by aligning market insights with customer needs. The manager will oversee positioning activities for the business development team, including strategic planning, creation of communications and marketing materials, and coordination of pre‑qualification efforts. Acting as the liaison among business development, pre‑construction, and marketing, they will provide market‑sector insights and conduct trend analysis. They will also establish strategic partnerships, identify new market opportunities, convert prospects into contacts, and ensure RFPs are completed with full accuracy. Leadership duties include coaching team members, managing performance, and building relationships across diverse backgrounds and organizational levels. • Manage positioning activities, including strategic planning and creation of marketing materials. • Coordinate pre‑qualification efforts and gather customer feedback. • Serve as liaison between business development, pre‑construction, and marketing, providing market insights. • Establish and nurture strategic partnerships while identifying new market opportunities. • Convert prospects into contacts for market sector leaders and understand project estimates. • Complete RFPs with 100 % accuracy and compliance with owner specifications. • Lead and coach team members, managing performance and providing feedback. • Build relationships across diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.

What You Bring

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field, and at least five years of industry‑related business development experience. A current driver’s license, the ability to travel up to 30 %, and proven customer‑relationship skills with regional market knowledge are essential. Candidates must be detail‑oriented, proficient in Microsoft Office, project‑management and CRM tools, and possess strong communication, active‑listening, and professional attitudes. Benefits

The base salary range is $102,900 to $154,400, with higher ranges for offices in Denver, Chicago, Seattle, Portland, and Washington, D.C., and eligibility for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
