About the Role
The position offers a broad scope, with responsibilities that include performing scheduled, preventative and corrective maintenance on refrigeration, air‑conditioning and HVAC systems, handling refrigerants in line with ARCTick licensing obligations, providing timely professional responses to internal and external stakeholders, and collaborating with other trades and subcontractors to support operational delivery. Downer plans, creates and sustains essential public services across Australia and New Zealand, managing critical infrastructure such as hospitals, data centres and defence partnerships, and has been recognised as Estate & Infrastructure Business of the Year 2025 and Prime Contractor of the Year in 2024 and 2025. • Perform scheduled, preventative, and corrective maintenance on refrigeration, air‑conditioning and HVAC systems. • Handle refrigerants in compliance with ARCTick licensing obligations. • Provide professional, timely responses to internal and external stakeholders. • Collaborate with other trades and subcontractors to support operational delivery.

What You Bring
The role commences in February 2026 and is open to candidates from all backgrounds, whether they bring defence experience, industry knowledge or transferable skills from other sectors. Applicants should hold a Certificate III in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, possess an ARCTick refrigerant handling licence (desirable) and a QBCC licence for Queensland, have post‑trade experience in fault diagnosis and repair of refrigeration and HVAC systems, hold a current open driver’s licence, and be able to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance; a strong work ethic, positive attitude and commitment to high‑quality outcomes are essential. • Hold Certificate III in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning. • Possess an ARCTick refrigerant handling licence (desirable) and a QBCC licence for Queensland. • Demonstrate post‑trade experience diagnosing and repairing refrigeration and HVAC systems. • Maintain a current open driver’s licence and Australian citizenship to obtain Defence Security Clearance.
