About the Role

In this role you will lead a multidisciplinary team of field staff, engineers, and scientists, serving as the primary technical authority for the region. You will oversee the development of geotechnical reports and design packages, mentor junior and mid‑level staff, and direct complex engineering designs such as slope stability, foundations, and retaining structures. Key duties include reviewing and signing off geotechnical deliverables, guiding field exploration activities, driving business development through client interactions, and collaborating with the Associate Principal review committee to cultivate future leaders. • Serve as final technical reviewer and sign-off authority for geotechnical reports and design packages. • Oversee development of geotechnical engineering reports, providing technical seal as Engineer of Record. • Provide expertise on DOT and AASHTO specifications to regional geotechnical and transportation staff. • Mentor junior and mid‑level engineers, technicians, designers, and project managers. • Lead complex designs for slope stability, shallow and deep foundations, retaining structures, and settlement analysis. • Direct field exploration activities, including drilling, test pits, and site inspections. • Drive business development by attending client meetings and identifying growth opportunities. • Collaborate with the Associate Principal review committee to identify and mentor future leaders. • Manage three or more large‑scale transportation projects simultaneously.

What You Bring

Candidates must have 12 or more years of experience in geotechnical and transportation engineering, a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field, and a Professional Engineer (PE) license. Required expertise includes the DOT Geotechnical Design Manual, AASHTO LRFD specifications, and proficiency with MicroStation or OpenRoads, as well as a proven record as a senior technical reviewer. Preferred qualifications include experience with specialized software such as gINT, LPile, and FB‑Pier, managing multiple large‑scale transportation projects simultaneously, and active involvement in professional societies like ASCE or ACEC. • Require 12+ years of geotechnical and transportation engineering experience. • Hold a PE license (PG license acceptable where required) and a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in civil/geotechnical/geological engineering. • Demonstrate documented expertise in DOT Geotechnical Design Manual and AASHTO LRFD specifications. • Proficient in MicroStation, OpenRoads, and specialized software such as gINT, LPile, APile, MSEW, FB‑Pier, and GRLWEAP. • Active participation in professional organizations (ASCE, ACEC, geotechnical institutes).
