About the Role
In this role you will manage and oversee all phases of construction, ensuring compliance with approved plans, specifications, and regulatory standards. You will coordinate daily activities with contractors and stakeholders such as city and county teams, WSP business lines, Operations, and Environmental teams, review contractor schedules, monitor progress, identify risks or delays, and advise clients on actions. Additional duties include supporting change management, interpreting design documents, ensuring code compliance, communicating across teams, participating in project meetings, providing field oversight and documentation, collaborating with inspectors and project managers, and adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct. • Oversee all construction phases, ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, and regulations. • Coordinate daily activities with contractors, city/county teams, WSP business lines, Operations, and Environmental teams. • Review and monitor contractor schedules, identify risks or delays, and advise clients on corrective actions. • Support change management by assessing proposed changes and obtaining approvals. • Interpret design documents, technical specifications, and contract requirements accurately. • Ensure construction work meets code requirements and quality standards. • Communicate across teams to resolve field issues and maintain project momentum. • Participate in project meetings, contributing to decision‑making and issue resolution. • Provide field oversight, daily inspection reports, and track deficiencies. • Collaborate with inspectors and project managers to verify quantities and support pay application reviews. • Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and ethical use of company resources.

What You Bring
WSP is seeking an experienced part-time Construction Manager for our Houston, TX office. This role will be part of our Construction Management team and will oversee construction projects in Houston and Harris County in general. The position supports both new construction and renovation efforts, ensuring all work aligns with project specifications, regulatory standards, and stakeholder expectations. Candidates should be well‑versed in all phases of construction projects, familiar with minimum code requirements, and capable of navigating design documents and contract specifications with confidence. Strong communication skills are essential, as the role involves coordination with contractors and a wide range of stakeholders, including client teams, WSP business lines, Environmental teams, and others. Required qualifications include a Professional Engineer (PE) or licensed civil engineer, a bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience, and at least ten years in the construction industry focusing on vertical building projects. Candidates must be proficient in Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Suite, Procore, and SharePoint, possess a valid driver’s license, be able to pass a criminal background check, and be available for occasional night‑time work. Preferred qualification is Certified Construction Manager (CCM). • Professional Engineer (PE) or licensed civil engineer required. • Minimum 10 years experience in vertical building construction projects. • Proficiency with Bluebeam, Procore, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office Suite. • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass criminal background check. • Availability for occasional night‑time work. • Preferred: Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification.
