About the Role
The Plant Maintenance Technician monitors and maintains all plant systems and equipment, including balers, conveyor belts, gearboxes, electrical motors, pulleys, shafts, and bearings. The role requires rapid response to system failures, taking corrective action or assigning repairs to keep systems operating safely and efficiently. This position reports to the Plant Maintenance Manager. Key duties include performing repairs in accordance with WM Safety, Life Critical Rules, and OSHA regulations, as well as conducting preventive maintenance inspections, diagnosing, repairing, and rebuilding major equipment such as balers, conveyors, hydraulic power packs, eddy currents, electromagnetic belts, optical sorters, diverters, compressors, trash compactors, motors, glass breakers, wire‑tie systems, fans, pumps, forklifts, front‑end loaders, and building equipment. The technician maintains the Daily Equipment Inspection (DEI) backlog, adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules, and notifies the Sr. Plant Maintenance Manager when additional work is needed or when repairs exceed Standard Repair Times. Additional responsibilities involve inspecting third‑party repairs, recommending improvements to production and equipment performance, handling emergency breakdowns, and working with limited supervision while multitasking and maintaining a flexible schedule that may include nights and weekends. • Perform repairs following WM Safety, Life Critical Rules, and OSHA standards. • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and rebuild major equipment (e.g., balers, conveyors, hydraulic packs, compressors). • Maintain Daily Equipment Inspection (DEI) backlog and adhere to Standard Repair Times. • Adjust work procedures to meet production schedules and notify senior manager of additional required work. • Inspect and evaluate third‑party repairs for quality. • Recommend improvements to production, equipment performance, and product quality. • Respond to emergency breakdown service calls and execute corrective actions. • Work with limited supervision, multitask, and manage multiple priorities. • Follow a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, to support operations. • Keep work area clean and safe, complying with corporate and OSHA safety procedures.

Required qualifications consist of at least two years of relevant experience, a minimum age of 18, legal eligibility to work in the United States, and the ability to meet the physical demands of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
