Assembles and operates rigging to lift/move equipment safely on construction sites.

About the Role
The role involves assembling rigging to lift and move equipment or material to construction projects. • Load, transport, unload and select appropriate cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves. • Attach pulleys and blocks to overhead structures using bolts and clamps. • Secure loads with grappling devices (loops, wires, ropes, chains) to crane hooks. • Direct crane operators or hoisting engineers using hand signals, loudspeaker, radio, or telephone to ensure safety. • Set up braces and rig hoisting equipment with hand tools and power wrenches. • Tie various knots as required. • Assemble and disassemble cranes. • Splice rope and wire cables to create or repair slings or tackle. • Direct workers in hoisting machinery onto or off ships, railcars, trucks, etc. • Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment. • Observe all safety rules. • Coordinate hand and foot movements according to visual signals within accuracy standards. • Rate information using measurable standards. • Interpret flat drawings or diagrams into solid objects. • Apply shop mathematics to solve problems. • Plan work and select proper tools. • Compare size, shape, and form differences in lines, figures, and objects.

What You Bring
Candidates should have at least a high school diploma or equivalent, with relevant experience. They must understand common concepts, practices, and procedures in the field, follow instructions and guidelines, and work under immediate supervision, typically reporting to a supervisor or manager. Physical demands include standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lb, carrying, pushing and pulling forces, as well as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and reaching.
