What You Bring
The Tube Welder is capable of certifying on multi‑process tubes and is proficient in SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW welding processes. This role may require X‑ray qualifications and involves laying out, aligning, and welding fabricated, cast, and forged components to assemble structural forms such as machinery frames, tanks, pressure vessels, furnace shells, buildings, and pipe according to blueprints and metallurgy. The position demands significant physical effort, including standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods, lifting and carrying up to 35 lb, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and reaching. The worker must also handle repetitive motions such as handling and fingering tools throughout the shift. • Plan layouts and welding procedures using knowledge of geometry and metal properties. • Bolt, clamp, and weld components in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions, including tack welding. • Preheat work pieces with a hand torch or heating furnace. • Pass employer performance and certification tests.
