About the Role
The Account Director will own the UK MOD Enterprise accounts, defining strategy and aligning with the broader Defence portfolio. You will foster relationships with internal stakeholders and coordinate communication between the Defence Leadership Team and MOD representatives. You will shape the regional defence growth plan, lead capture management for major MOD pursuits, and work with cross‑functional teams to advance opportunities. Collaboration with marketing and other units will support the pursuit pipeline. • Set and achieve financial outcomes for UK MOD Enterprise accounts. • Build relationships with global defence partners, including US DoD teams. • Lead the go/no‑go decision framework and ensure compliance with MOD CCS/MCF contracts. • Design and execute strategic marketing campaigns targeting key MOD opportunities. • Secure consulting contracts ranging from £5 million to £20 million. • Leverage an extensive network of senior MOD officials, OEMs and industry stakeholders. • Translate defence and security trends into focused sales initiatives. • Obtain and maintain active UK Security Clearance (SC) and progress toward Developed Vetting when required. • Operate flexibly across AECOM offices, remote settings and client sites under the hybrid model. • Access industry‑leading technology and professional development resources. • Participate in comprehensive health, financial and wellness benefit programmes.

What You Bring
We are hiring a Business Development – Account Director to strengthen AECOM’s partnership with the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD). The role sits on the Defence Leadership Team and reports to the Head of Defence UK, Europe & India, collaborating with defence sector leaders across the business. Regular travel to London and other UK offices is required. The successful candidate is a senior‑level leader with extensive UK MOD experience, strong commercial acumen and the ability to navigate a complex customer ecosystem. A proven record of securing consulting contracts and a deep network of senior MOD and industry contacts are essential.
