About the Role
Responsibilities include administering site safety programs, conducting safety orientations and training, documenting violations, performing audits, analyzing safety data, assisting with incident analysis, managing OSHA reporting, reviewing submittals, monitoring trade plans, handling injury management, organizing safety events, and participating in project planning and hazard analysis. The engineer also provides safety information, evaluates industrial hygiene concerns, maintains knowledge of standards, chairs safety meetings, collaborates with client safety personnel, unions, insurers, and oversees safety equipment, PPE, and the safety budget. • Implement and manage site safety programs, including orientations and training. • Document safety violations, conduct audits, analyze data, and support incident investigations. • Handle OSHA reporting, review safety submittals, and monitor trade partner work plans. • Oversee injury management, PPE budgeting, and safety equipment maintenance. • Collaborate with client safety personnel, unions, insurers, and lead safety tours. • Serve as a safety resource, chair meetings, and provide industrial hygiene guidance.

What You Bring
Candidates should have a bachelor’s or associate’s degree in occupational safety or a related field, or a high school diploma with CHST or STS certification, OSHA 30‑hour training, and at least five years of construction experience. A current driver’s license, proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety software, strong communication, teamwork, leadership, and public‑speaking skills are also required. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship. Mortenson does not accept unsolicited agency contacts. • Hold a degree in safety or a high school diploma with CHST/STS, OSHA 30, and 5+ years construction experience. • Maintain a valid driver’s license, Microsoft Office proficiency, and strong communication skills. • Travel up to 100% with home rotations every three weeks.

Benefits
Compensation is based on experience and location, with Engineer I pay ranging from $78,800 to $98,500 and Engineer II from $81,800 to $110,400. Certain office locations receive up to a 12.5% increase, and the position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
