About the Role

Under general supervision, the engineer will collect, compile, and analyze data from work sites, surveys, blueprints, schematics, and computer‑generated reports to aid project development, design, and construction. They will perform basic professional plumbing engineering tasks such as researching and inspecting site conditions, installing plumbing and fire protection systems, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and permits. Routine engineering functions include load calculations, operating strategies, verification of site characteristics, and creation of detailed specifications using electronic tools and field logs, while adhering to safety guidelines and completing required training. • Provide technical assistance for design, development, testing, and inspection of plumbing, fire suppression, and fluid flow systems on infrastructure and building projects. • Collect, compile, and analyze site data, surveys, blueprints, and technical drawings under general supervision. • Perform basic plumbing engineering tasks, including research, inspections, load calculations, and installation of systems in compliance with codes and permits. • Generate accurate documentation, specifications, and field logs using electronic systems and drawing tools. • Adhere to safety guidelines, complete required training, and follow WSP’s Code of Conduct and ethical standards. • Collaborate independently and within multidisciplinary teams to meet project objectives. • Maintain a workplace safety record and comply with health, safety, and harassment policies. • Work flexible schedules and travel occasionally as project needs dictate.

What You Bring

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Plumbing or Mechanical Engineering (or a closely related discipline) and 0‑1 years of relevant post‑education experience. Candidates must possess strong research and analytical skills, familiarity with design/build processes and relevant codes, and effective interpersonal and communication abilities for both engineering and non‑engineering audiences. Self‑leadership, attention to detail, multitasking, and the ability to prioritize in a dynamic environment are essential, as is proficiency with technical writing, office software, and design tools such as AutoCAD or Revit. Preferred qualifications include an Engineer in Training (EIT) certification, prior internship experience related to the degree, and active participation in local professional practice organizations. These credentials demonstrate a deeper commitment to the engineering profession and can enhance the candidate’s ability to contribute to project teams. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Plumbing or Mechanical Engineering with 0‑1 years of relevant experience. • Demonstrate strong research, analytical, and communication skills, and proficiency with AutoCAD or Revit. • Preferred: Engineer in Training certification, related internship experience, and active membership in professional organizations.
