About the Role

The position offers a broad scope, requiring the maintenance of buildings, structures, plant and equipment to required standards at a single Defence base. You will be responsible for carpentry, joinery and basic building works, including repairs, installation and maintenance of structures and fixtures, while delivering both preventative and responsive works in line with statutory, contractual and safety requirements. • Undertake carpentry, fitting, and minor maintenance works at a Defence base. • Perform carpentry, joinery and basic building works, including repairs, installation and maintenance of structures and fixtures. • Deliver preventative and responsive works in accordance with statutory, contractual and safety requirements. • Ensure a safe working environment for colleagues, customers and the public.

What You Bring

We are inviting applications for a permanent Carpenter position at HMAS KUTTABUL, with a start date of February 2026. The role is open to candidates from all backgrounds, whether they bring Defence experience, industry knowledge, or transferable skills from other sectors, and reflects our commitment to an inclusive workplace where everyone feels respected and valued. • Certificate III in Carpentry. • Post‑trade experience in carpentry and/or mechanical fitting within facilities maintenance. • Working at Heights qualification (desirable). • Experience in preventative and corrective maintenance of building structures, fixtures and mechanical plant/equipment. • Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent (desirable). • Current open driver’s licence. • Ability to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance (Australian citizenship required). • Strong work ethic, positive attitude and commitment to high‑quality outcomes.
