About the Role
As part of HDR’s Building Engineering Services Group, you will help design critical infrastructure that supports the digital age and shapes spaces where people work, connect, and thrive. Projects range from high‑performance data centers driving AI to dynamic commercial environments, advancing technology, sustainability, and human experience through collaborative mechanical, electrical, structural, and civil engineering. The Structural Engineer role involves preparing analysis models, developing Revit building models, reviewing interdisciplinary documents, writing specifications, and coordinating the design team through development and contract phases, while ensuring code compliance and on‑site collaboration. • Prepare structural analysis models using ETABS, RAM, SAFE, RISA, etc. • Develop digital building models and details in Revit. • Work independently on medium to large projects and assist senior engineers on larger projects. • Review structural documents for interdisciplinary conflicts. • Write and edit structural specifications, select procedures, materials, sizes, and perform calculations. • Coordinate the structural design team through design development and contract document phases. • Conduct meetings and reviews with governing agencies to ensure code compliance. • Perform design development and contract document sessions on site with project manager and other disciplines. • Manage workload to meet schedule for design development and construction documents. • Coordinate addenda, RFIs, change proposals, and incorporate changes into project documents. • Conduct site visits and structural observations.

What You Bring
Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering, possess a professional engineering license for the job location, and bring prior structural engineering experience along with proficiency in industry software such as ETABS, RAM, SAFE, RISA, and AutoCAD. A master’s degree and data‑center design experience are preferred, as is a commitment to HDR’s employee‑owned culture. • Preferred: Master’s degree in architectural or structural engineering. • Preferred: Experience with data center design. • Required: Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering. • Required: Professional engineering license (PE, P.Eng) for the location. • Required: Prior structural engineering experience. • Required: Proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, RISA, STAAD, SAP, Tedds, RAM, ETABS, SAFE or similar tools. • Required: Experience in an architectural/engineering consulting firm.
