About the Role

In the pre‑award phase you will develop subcontracting strategies, qualify bidders, create bid‑ready RFP packages, run the formal bidding process, analyze proposals, and negotiate major contracts. After award, you will serve as the subcontractors’ commercial point of contact, conduct kickoff meetings, track compliance, monitor field performance, manage change orders, control finances, and lead the closeout process. • Develop subcontracting strategy and perform self‑perform vs subcontract analysis • Identify, pre‑qualify, and maintain a vetted list of high‑quality subcontractors • Lead creation of comprehensive, bid‑ready RFP packages and define scopes of work • Manage the formal bidding process, issue RFPs, respond to RFIs, and handle addenda • Conduct commercial bid analysis and normalize proposals for comparison • Negotiate major subcontracts, resolve technical exceptions, and draft final agreements • Present award recommendations to senior management • Serve as primary commercial contact for subcontractors after award • Conduct subcontract kickoff meetings covering scope, safety, schedule, and administration • Track and manage subcontractor compliance items such as insurance, bonds, safety plans, and quality documentation • Monitor subcontractor field progress and coordinate with superintendent and project controls • Identify and mitigate risks, performance issues, and schedule slippages • Manage the full subcontract change‑order process from notification to execution • Maintain an official change log and ensure proper documentation of all changes • Review, validate, and process subcontractor payment applications and invoices • Track back‑charges, claims, and disputes to protect project commercial interests • Lead comprehensive subcontract closeout, including punch list, lien waivers, warranties, and retainage release • Travel up to 100% and deploy to project sites as required

What You Bring

We are seeking a seasoned, field‑oriented Subcontract Supervisor with over ten years of experience in heavy civil, industrial, or power sectors. This hybrid role manages the full‑cycle lifecycle of large, high‑value subcontracts, supporting estimating teams from the home office and acting as the primary commercial lead on‑site. The position requires expert knowledge of contract law, procurement, and risk management, advanced negotiation skills, strong financial acumen, and exceptional written and verbal communication. A hands‑on understanding of field operations, construction sequencing, and safety, combined with meticulous organizational ability, is essential. A bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Supply Chain or a related field is strongly preferred. Candidates must have at least ten years of progressive subcontract management experience, including handling individual contracts exceeding $10 million in heavy civil, industrial, or power sectors, and familiarity with EPC, Design‑Build, and Lump Sum delivery models. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and construction software such as Procore, Viewpoint, or Vista ERP is desired, and extensive travel is required. • Utilize Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software (e.g., Procore, Viewpoint, Vista ERP)
