Senior Building Regulations Principal Designer (Design Management Property and Buildings)

About the Role

As a Senior Building Regulations Principal Designer you will act as the main liaison between the lead designer and WSP’s engineering and specialist teams, shaping the BRPD strategy and delivering future‑facing solutions across multiple sectors. You will work closely with engineers and specialists to implement BRPD processes for both high‑risk and non‑high‑risk buildings, ensuring alignment with the Building Safety Act 2022. You will oversee design objectives, guide the design team from inception to completion and develop strategies that meet client goals. Managing the BRPD process involves coordinating stakeholders, tracking progress, reporting at high‑level reviews and resolving project‑level risks. You will define project set‑up, develop briefs, scopes and schedules, facilitate interdisciplinary workshops, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices. What You Bring

The ideal candidate holds an Engineering, Architectural or Design Management degree and is chartered or close to chartership. You have experience as a client‑facing design manager or technical lead on large, multi‑disciplinary projects and are familiar with RIBA stages 1‑3, including planning submissions. A highly organised, proactive and collaborative attitude is essential, as is the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders. Prior experience on large multi‑disciplinary projects and an interest in innovation are preferred, and successful applicants must be security‑cleared.
