About the Role

As a Senior Building Regulations Principal Designer you will act as the main liaison between the lead designer and WSP’s engineering and specialist teams, shaping the BRPD strategy and delivering future‑facing solutions across multiple sectors. You will work closely with engineers and specialists to implement BRPD processes for both high‑risk and non‑high‑risk buildings, ensuring alignment with the Building Safety Act 2022. You will oversee design objectives, guide the design team from inception to completion and develop strategies that meet client goals. Managing the BRPD process involves coordinating stakeholders, tracking progress, reporting at high‑level reviews and resolving project‑level risks. You will define project set‑up, develop briefs, scopes and schedules, facilitate interdisciplinary workshops, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices. In addition, you will oversee the preparation of design and construction documentation, support bids, and assist with project handover to the client. • Act as Senior Building Regulations Principal Designer on major projects. • Develop and implement BRPD strategy and processes across sectors. • Collaborate with engineers and specialists to deliver high‑risk and non‑high‑risk building solutions. • Oversee design objectives, ensuring compliance with the Building Safety Act 2022. • Lead, direct, and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams from inception to completion. • Manage the BRPD process, coordinating stakeholders and tracking project progress. • Report progress at high‑level review meetings and resolve design‑level risks and issues. • Define project set‑up, develop briefs, scopes of work and design schedules. • Facilitate interdisciplinary workshops to ensure competency and BRPD compliance. • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices. • Oversee preparation of design and construction documentation, including drawings and specifications. • Support bid preparation and contribute to new business opportunities.

What You Bring

The ideal candidate holds an Engineering, Architectural or Design Management degree and is chartered or close to chartership. You have experience as a client‑facing design manager or technical lead on large, multi‑disciplinary projects and are familiar with RIBA stages 1‑3, including planning submissions. A highly organised, proactive and collaborative attitude is essential, as is the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders. Prior experience on large multi‑disciplinary projects and an interest in innovation are preferred, and successful applicants must be security‑cleared.
