About the Role
• Leads all aspects of the company’s safety culture and creates awareness by demonstrating commitment to an injury‑free environment through individual actions and mentoring others. • Manages the JE Dunn pre‑start checklist form. • Supports the preconstruction team with quantity takeoff, trade coordination, scope development, bid package creation, schedule development, and bid advertisement. • Leads planning and implementation of buyout schedule, verifies pricing and scope, identifies successful bidders, conducts gap analysis, and manages issuance of subcontracts. • Manages the submittal schedule setup, reviews and approves shop drawings and samples before submission to architects or engineers. • Ensures approved submittals are returned to subcontractors and available to the project team according to the schedule and contract. • Coordinates with Logistics to obtain pricing on materials and equipment. • Works with risk management to secure approval and bonding requirements for subcontractors and performs ongoing risk analysis throughout the project lifecycle. • Coordinates stakeholders including subcontractors, owner, field, design team, and vendors. • Disseminates change requests to subcontractors for pricing and schedule input and evaluates subcontractor pricing for accuracy. • Prepares, submits, and obtains owner/architect approval for change requests. • Leads various meetings such as monthly project reviews, progress meetings, and Owner‑Architect (OAC) meetings. • Completes monthly subcontractor and owner pay application process. • Prepares project schedule with the Project Superintendent, incorporates Lean principles, and updates schedules for pre‑construction and construction activities. • Identifies potential schedule impacts (scope, weather, manpower, changes) and facilitates mitigation plans. • Provides written documentation for decisions affecting budget, schedule, legal, quality, or safety, following best practice documentation standards. • Delivers regular reporting and analysis to communicate overall project status and profitability. • Prepares monthly cost and margin forecast, participates in budget development, and highlights cost discrepancies to improve financial performance. • Leads overall project closeout using best‑practice standards, including punch list, financials, subcontracts, and warranties. • Interfaces with regional/company legal counsel as appropriate. • Leads and participates in all aspects of the project‑specific safety plan, demonstrating commitment to an injury‑free environment and mentoring others. • Completes estimating and productivity analysis. • Leads or supports senior management in preconstruction discussions with clients. • Oversees project team during development of preconstruction estimates. • Identifies, understands, and actively manages project risks. • Assists with development and management of the project business plan to maximize financial success. • Implements and manages components of operation and administration for complex or multiple construction projects. • Manages deliverables from internal resources such as IPS, logistics, and self‑perform. • Engages in business, industry, and community activities to build and strengthen external relationships. • Reviews and approves expense reports. • Negotiates project issues including change orders, contingency expenditures, and fee enhancements. • Completes scope review and bid analysis, including award of subcontracts. • Collaborates with marketing team on presentations and marketing activities. • Leads, supports, and promotes a culture of diversity and inclusion, ensuring JE Dunn’s non‑discrimination policy is proactively implemented.

What You Bring
The role demands a strong safety focus, effective coordination of pre‑construction and construction activities, and the ability to manage submittals, schedules, budgets, and change orders while maintaining clear documentation and reporting. Candidates must demonstrate advanced communication and presentation skills, proficiency with construction management software (e.g., CMiC, BIM, scheduling tools), and a solid understanding of lean processes, budgeting, and risk management. A bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is required, though equivalent experience will be considered. Applicants should have at least ten years of construction management experience and possess a valid, unrestricted driver’s license. The position may require lifting up to 25 pounds, travel, relocation, and non‑traditional work hours to meet project needs, and can expose the employee to extreme temperature conditions. Work settings include project sites and office environments, with frequent sitting and computer work and occasional standing, walking, climbing, and other physical activities. • Understands the preconstruction process from conceptual phase through GMP development. • Uses awareness, experience, and knowledge to identify problems and recommends solutions for team review and implementation. • Ability to perform work accurately, completely, and in a timely manner. • Advanced verbal and written communication skills. • Advanced ability to conduct effective presentations. • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office. • Ability to apply fundamentals of construction management means and methods to projects. • Thorough knowledge of project processes and their role in successful project completion. • Ability to build relationships with team members that transcend a project. • Intermediate proficiency in CMiC and other project management/accounting software. • Intermediate proficiency in required construction technology. • Intermediate proficiency in scheduling software. • Intermediate proficiency in BIM (Building Information Modeling). • Intermediate ability to apply Lean process and philosophy. • Intermediate ability to manage budgets, maximize profitability, and generate future work through relationships. • Ability to construct a project from start to finish. • Ability to prepare the project budget, GMP, or hard bid. • Ability to complete range estimates. • Ability to assist Marketing team with presentations and marketing activities. • Ability to develop and manage a project team. • Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, internally and externally. • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field. • Equivalent relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. • 10+ years of construction management experience.
