About the Role

The role involves planning, siting, and acquiring permits and land rights for the construction, operation, and maintenance of Xcel Energy’s electrical and gas utility facilities. Agents work under minimal supervision with latitude for unreviewed actions, while Senior Agents have consultative direction and broader decision‑making authority. Both levels collaborate with multidisciplinary internal teams, including engineering, legal, and project management staff. • Negotiate land acquisitions and manage rights with owners and legal representatives, including condemnation processes. • Prepare easement packages and conduct abstracting and courthouse document searches. • Obtain permits from state, local, federal, railroad, and DOT agencies, including Conditional Use Permits. • Represent Xcel Energy before regulatory boards, planning commissions, and public meetings to secure project approvals. • Prepare project descriptions, respond to data requests, and present to governing jurisdictions. • Perform route alternative analysis, site selection, and corridor development for utility facilities. • Ensure compliance with permit conditions and landowner agreements; manage post‑construction damage assessments and settlements. • Provide land‑rights support to internal departments, including valuation, scheduling, and cost estimates.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in real estate, land‑use planning, management, or business (or equivalent experience). • Minimum 2 years of increasingly complex siting, acquisition, or land‑rights management experience. • Strong verbal and written communication skills. • At least 5 years of complex siting, acquisition, or land‑rights management experience for Senior Agent level. • Demonstrated project management abilities.
