Job Highlights
About the Role
• Select pipe size and material according to specifications. • Plan layouts, assembly, and welding using geometry and metal properties. • Operate various welding processes (GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, SAW, SMAW). • Layout, align, and fit components in multiple positions. • Connect welding unit cables to set amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse as required. • Load and insert appropriate electrode or wire into holder or gun. • Start power supply and strike arc to melt and deposit metal. • Guide electrode/gun along weld line, controlling arc length, speed, and bead characteristics. • Apply filler rod manually when needed. • Repair broken or cracked parts and fill holes. • Remove excess or defective weld material, slag, and spatter using gouge, scraper, grinder, or chipper. • Cut metal plates or structural shapes. • Inspect weld bead size and specifications. • Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, equipment, and supplies. • Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing materials during installation. • Perform minor maintenance or cleaning of tools and equipment. • Use respiratory protection as required. • Observe and comply with all safety and project rules. • Make decisions based on measurable criteria. • Apply basic mathematics to solve problems. • Plan work and select proper tools. • Visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings. • Compare and detect differences in size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects.

What You Bring
The Tube welder is certified to work on multi‑process tubes and is proficient in SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW welding methods. The role involves interpreting blueprints and metallurgy to lay out, align, and weld fabricated, cast, and forged components for structures such as machinery frames, tanks, pressure vessels, furnace shells, buildings, and pipe systems. The position requires the ability to perform a range of physical activities, including standing, walking, sitting, lifting and carrying up to 35 lb, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling tools, and fine finger work. Respiratory protection is commonly used, and the employee must adhere to safety and project regulations. • Bolt, clamp, and weld components; weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions; tack weld assemblies. • Clean or degrease weld joint or workplace with brush, grinder, or chemical bath. • Preheat workpiece with torch or furnace. • Pass employer performance or certification tests.
