About the Role
• Support senior engineers with cost estimates and detailed proposals. • Assist from conceptual to detailed design and software commissioning. • Design discrete, continuous, and batch control systems. • Specify process transmitters, analytical instrumentation, control valves, motors, and VFDs. • Select and specify PLC, HMI, and SCADA hardware/software. • Develop IEC 61131 programming skills (Ladder, SFC, FB, Structured Text); Visual Basic a plus. • Perform loop tuning and HMI design (ISA‑101, alarm management, historians). • Specify and install computer hardware, virtualization, networking, and server/client configurations. • Design OT/IT communications infrastructure, fieldbus networks, copper/fiber, wireless and cellular systems. • Integrate cybersecurity design and implementation. • Produce and modify project deliverables such as PFDs, P&IDs, instrument lists, I/O lists, network address lists, specifications, loop diagrams, control panel layouts, BOMs, installation details, area plans, conduit/cable schedules, and construction specs. • Coordinate system checkout and startup activities. • Train end‑users and maintenance personnel.

As part of GHD’s Engineering Design Organization I&C team, you will support the development of novel automation solutions for complex industrial, municipal, and manufacturing processes. We seek out‑of‑the‑box thinkers who can offer innovative approaches to designing new and improving existing automated processes. The role works alongside experienced engineers on projects across North America and abroad, requiring strong communication and interpersonal skills. With over 11,000 professionals across more than 200 offices on five continents, GHD leads through engineering, architecture, and construction expertise, combining deep technical knowledge with client collaborations to solve complex global challenges. • Travel up to 25% of the time to U.S. job sites and occasional locations in Canada. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master’s degree is a plus. • Demonstrate knowledge of PLC/HMI platforms (e.g., Allen‑Bradley) and SCADA platforms (e.g., FactoryTalk, i‑FIX, Wonderware, Ignition). • Understand databases and analytics.
