About the Role

A Structural Stick/MIG Welder is responsible for welding, fabricating, and assisting pipe fitters, electricians, millwrights, and ironworkers in the installation of equipment and supports for industrial pipe, structural, electrical, and mechanical systems. • Select equipment and plan layouts, assemblies, and welding using knowledge of geometry, metal properties, weld shrinkage, and techniques. • Layout, position, align, cut, assemble, and fit metal components in various orientations. • Bolt, clamp, and tack‑weld parts to secure them for welding. • Set up equipment and perform welding using arc, gas‑shielded arc, submerged arc, or arc‑gas processes. • Weld metal components to piping systems and equipment according to appropriate procedures. • Identify required equipment for the job and process. • Identify safety risks and required precautions. • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical manuals. • Work on ladders, stairways, and occasionally off platforms with fall protection. • Use arms and hands to manipulate tools, materials, and controls.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a current Zachry welding certification or be able to pass a weld test, possess at least four years of welding experience, and be capable of stick/MIG welding various equipment and materials in 2G, 3G, and 4G positions. Preferred applicants include current or former Zachry employees, especially those with experience on Combined‑Cycle power plant construction projects and prior work with Zachry Industrial, Inc. The position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 50 lb, work at heights, and use of personal protective equipment such as hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators, safety vest, gloves, and steel‑toe boots. • Minimum four years of industrial‑size welding experience, including 2G, 3G, and 4G positions. • Proficient with welding rods such as 6010 and 7018 and capable of welding carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and chrome. • Thorough knowledge of metal characteristics, appropriate welding processes, and effects of welding on materials. • Current Zachry welding certification or ability to pass a weld test. • Ability to assist with non‑welding tasks as needed. • Reliable transportation. • Ability to work at heights as required. • Perform frequent standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting, and lifting. • Lift, carry, and move up to 50 lb. • Communicate verbally and audibly.
