About the Role

• Carry out planned and allocated works across void social housing properties • Replace or repair skirting boards, architraves, and internal door frames • Install and adjust kitchen units, worktops, and cupboard doors • Repair or replace internal doors, handles, locks, and hinges • Identify and fix minor plumbing issues such as leaks, dripping taps, and blocked sinks • Perform patch plastering and make good damaged walls or ceilings • Complete wall and floor tiling repairs, including grouting and sealing • Paint and decorate to a professional finish after repairs • Ensure refurbishments are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard • Work in void properties with sensitivity to residents’ needs and privacy • Participate in out‑of‑hours emergency repair rota as required • Report further works, safeguarding concerns, or property issues beyond scope • Deliver excellent customer service in residents' homes • Accurately record job details, materials used, and completion notes using handheld devices or job sheets • Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle in good working order • Manage daily workload efficiently to meet service level targets

What You Bring

Mears Group is seeking a versatile Multi‑Skilled Operative to support a busy voids contract in Eastbourne. The role involves delivering high‑quality refurbishments across a range of trades to ensure social housing properties are safe, functional and well cared for. You will work in empty properties and respond to day‑to‑day refurbishment requests covering carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling and more. All applicants must have the right to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not available. Candidates must meet background, identity and security checks before starting. • Proven experience in domestic repairs and maintenance across multiple trades (carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling, decorating) • Full UK driving licence • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively • Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills • Excellent customer service skills, with experience working in occupied homes • Good understanding of health and safety regulations and safe working practices • Ability to use handheld devices or job management systems to record work • Willingness to participate in out‑of‑hours emergency rota

Benefits

Annual salary: up to £31,060 per annum. The position is full‑time permanent, 42.5 hours per week (8‑5 Monday‑Friday) in Eastbourne, with a company van and fuel card provided.
