About the Role
The role is for a chartered Principal Civil Engineer within the Water Division, responsible for leading design and project delivery on water and wastewater treatment facilities, pipelines, pumping infrastructure, network modelling and hydropower developments. The position covers the full project lifecycle from feasibility and strategic studies through detailed design, construction support and handover, serving UK water authorities, government bodies and private‑sector clients. • Work across multiple UK water authorities • Lead multidisciplinary design teams in project delivery • Manage small‑to‑medium projects, overseeing programme and financial aspects • Provide independent design input and prioritize tasks with minimal supervision • Review design submissions to ensure contract compliance • Conduct discipline checks on standard outputs • Undertake studies and produce concept, preliminary and detailed designs • Liaise with clients and other stakeholders • Mentor and develop junior staff

What You Bring
Candidates must hold a Civil Engineering (or related) degree and be chartered or near‑chartered (ICE or equivalent). Essential experience includes leading multidisciplinary design teams on water or wastewater projects, knowledge of CDM regulations and water standards, and strong communication and leadership skills. Desirable experience includes work with Scottish Water, advanced digital capabilities and involvement in low‑carbon solution development. The role does not currently offer Skilled Worker visa sponsorship. • Civil Engineering (or related) degree with chartered or near‑chartered status (ICE or equivalent) • Proven experience leading design or multidisciplinary teams on water/wastewater projects • Understanding of CDM regulations and water/wastewater specifications • Strong communication, collaboration and leadership skills • Proactive and adaptable approach • Experience with Scottish Water (desirable) • Advanced digital capability (e.g., Copilot/AI, Civil 3D, GIS, hydraulic modelling) (desirable) • Contribution to low‑carbon solution development (desirable)
