What You Bring

The Structural Welder will weld, fabricate, and assist pipe fitters, electricians, millwrights, and ironworkers in installing equipment and supports for industrial pipe, structural, electrical, and mechanical systems. The role requires stick‑welding various equipment and materials, holding a current Zachry welding certification or passing a weld test, and possessing at least four years of welding experience. The welder must meet all physical requirements and have the specified tools ready by the start date. Required qualifications include the ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings, interpret technical manuals, and stick‑weld in 2G, 3G, and 4G positions. The welder must be proficient with rods such as 6010 and 7018, have thorough knowledge of metal characteristics, and experience welding carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and chrome. Reliable transportation, the ability to work at heights, and meeting all physical demands are also essential. Physical demands involve extensive standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting, and lifting up to 50 lb, as well as working at slight heights, climbing ladders, and occasionally using fall‑protection equipment. The welder must wear appropriate PPE, tolerate heat and weather conditions, and comply with Zachry’s safety standards. Certification HBZ‑131 (2G, 3G, 4G) and a weld test on specified coupons are required. • Stick weld various equipment and materials. • Hold current Zachry welding certification or pass weld test. • Minimum 4 years of welding experience. • Select equipment, plan layouts, and apply knowledge of geometry and metal properties. • Stick weld in 2G, 3G, and 4G positions. • Proficient with welding rods including 6010 & 7018. • Knowledge of metal characteristics and effects of welding. • Experience welding carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and chrome. • Reliable transportation and ability to work at heights. • Physical demands: standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 50 lb, work at heights, use PPE, tolerate heat. • Certification required: HBZ‑131 (2G, 3G, 4G) and weld test on specified coupons. • Required tools: metal toolbox with lock, stinger, TIG rig (combo welder), welding hood, chipping hammer, Klein pliers, 12" & 15" crescent wrenches, 25' tape, file, 4‑12 lb beater, torpedo level, combination square, welding gloves, leather apron, rain coat, rubber boots. • Preferred: current Zachry employee or former Zachry experience. • Preferred: prior work on combined‑cycle power plant construction projects.
