About the Role
• Interpret plans and specifications, confer with supervisory personnel, design professionals, and client representatives to resolve construction issues promptly. • Review and recommend approval of the contractor’s baseline construction schedule and subsequent updates. • Monitor contractor work progress against the baseline schedule and critical milestones; address potential schedule impacts. • Review and recommend approval of contractor requests for time extensions. • Review and recommend approval of contractor‑proposed schedule of values. • Review and recommend approval of contractor payment applications; monitor and track payments. • Evaluate, negotiate, and recommend approval of contract change orders; monitor and track executed change orders. • Monitor and track contractor Requests for Information (RFIs) and facilitate their review, response, and resolution. • Monitor and track contractor material submittals, shop drawings, and related documentation (e.g., traffic control plans, SWPPP, WPCPs) and facilitate their approval. • Coordinate advanced public notification and act as liaison to community residents and stakeholders, addressing concerns and complaints. • Perform supplemental construction inspections to ensure compliance with project plans and specifications. • Prepare and submit daily inspection reports and weekly statements of work days. • Facilitate final project walkthrough, prepare and monitor completion of the punch list. • Lead project closeout, compile contractor closeout documentation (warranties, O&M manuals, etc.), submit closeout files, and recommend final pay application and retention release.

What You Bring
The Construction Manager will have overall construction management, administration and inspection responsibility for municipal and public works projects such as street improvements, traffic signal upgrades, and water, wastewater, and drainage improvements. The manager ensures contractor compliance with approved plans, specifications, and contract provisions, and serves as the primary client contact. Preference is given to candidates with professional licenses, inspection certificates, and extensive experience in these project types. Candidates should hold a BS degree in Civil Engineering or a related field and possess experience with municipal/public works construction, strong communication, project coordination, conflict resolution, safety awareness, and proficiency in MS Office, project scheduling (Microsoft Project or Primavera) and web‑based construction management software. • Knowledge of municipal/public works construction standards, including the Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction, Caltrans MUCTD, and Caltrans Construction Manual. • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact with individuals at all construction levels. • Ability to coordinate and manage multiple, complex projects simultaneously. • Conflict‑resolution skills to address antagonistic situations amicably. • Safety awareness to identify and correct conditions affecting employee safety. • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and construction scheduling software such as Microsoft Project or Primavera, plus web‑based construction management tools. • Experience in construction‑related roles; pursuing or holding a Professional Engineering License, Project Management Certification, CMIT, CCM, or QSP/QSD Certification.

Benefits
The pay range in California is $37.50 to $55.00 per hour, with potential variations based on knowledge, skills, experience, and location; restricted stock units and a full suite of medical, dental, life insurance, PTO, 401(k) and professional development benefits may also be offered.
